Congratulations to the South Euclid 10U tournament team for winning the 2010 Kirtland Strawberry Festival Baseball tournament the weekend of June 19th. The weekend was full of exciting baseball! The first game on Saturday was their only loss to Orange with a score of 4-2. The team battled back on Saturday to beat Lyndhurst 6-5 in the bottom of the last inning. Because of great flight play and only allowing 9 total runs on Saturday, the South Euclid team received the 3rd seed for bracket single elimination play on Sunday.

On Sunday the team faced West Geauga early in the morning beating them 8-4 to advance to the semi-final game. In the semi-final game they faced the number 2 seeded team, Orange. After the defeat on Saturday, the team knew they had to be at the top of their game. They took on the challenge and played an amazing error free game to victory with a score of 4-1 to advance to the championship game. The final game was played against the #1 seeded Kirtland Hornets. The boys continued to play outstanding and remained focused to go ahead and defeat Kirtland with a final score of 14-8 and take the championship trophy back to South Euclid.

Overall, the boys played their hearts out and truly deserved this championship. The defensive play, pitching, and amazing hitting all combined for the success of this tournament.

They look forward to continuing this momentum into their next 3 tournaments, Mentor, Mayfield, and Eastlake.
